Patent Issued on
OnLine Digital Forensic Suite Technology
Covers Unique, Cost-Effective Approach to Live Computer Forensics and
Incident Response in Networked Environments without Pre-Installed
Software Agents
Eden Prairie, MN March 2, 2009 (Business Wire) Cyber Security Technologies Corporation announced today that the US Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent covering the core technology of the OnLine Digital Forensic Suite™ (OnLineDFS™) for live, network-based computer forensic investigations.
The OnLine Digital Forensic Suite software enables the forensic investigation of live computer systems in and over a network. A fundamental attribute of the OnLineDFS product architecture is the ability to conduct these investigations without pre-installed software agents on the computers which are the subject of an investigation. This unique architectural method is the foundation for the cost-effective, simple to deploy and use approach of OnLineDFS to conducting live computer forensics and incident response in networked environments. This foundational architecture is the subject of the patent which has just been issued.
John Metil, the president and CEO of Cyber Security Technologies, stated, “The OnLineDFS architecture enables us to offer our customers the most straightforward, easiest to use and most cost-effective product for live computer investigations in networks available in the market. We are pleased that the US Patent and Trademark Office has recognized and protected the unique innovations in our technology.”
The patent which has just been issued is U.S. Patent No. 7,496,959. The OnLine Digital Forensic Suite technology was originally developed by Architecture Technology Corporation (ATC) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Ithaca, New York, which filed the patent application. The intellectual property and all associated rights have subsequently been conveyed by ATC to Cyber Security Technologies Corporation.
About Cyber Security Technologies
Cyber Security Technologies is the innovation leader in affordable software solutions for the forensic investigation of computer systems. Our OnLine Digital Forensic Suite (OnLineDFS) enables network-based, real-time investigations of live, running computer systems without pre-installed agents. OnLineDFS is designed for information technology security professionals and investigators in corporations, government agencies and law enforcement. It is a valuable solution for incident response, compliance, e-discovery and law enforcement investigations in live, networked environments.
Additionally, CST provides two leading-edge software products – P2P Marshal™ and Mac Marshal™ – for automating the investigation and analysis of especially challenging investigative situations.
P2P Marshal is an automated application to discover and analyze peer-to-peer usage on images of hard drives in dramatically less time than is required for a manual investigation. P2P Marshal automatically detects and identifies a roster of commonly used P2P software which is or was present on the hard drive under investigation. It reveals files which have been downloaded and offered for sharing, and identifies peer servers with which the target computer has been in contact.
Mac Marshal is an analytical forensics product that substantially accelerates investigations of computers running the Mac OS X operating system and related Mac-specific applications. Mac Marshal automatically detects OS X and Windows operating systems and virtual machine images, and provides the investigator with an array of automated information-gathering and analytical tools to rapidly extract Mac-specific forensic evidence from the operating system, the hard drive, and from Mac applications such as Mail, Safari, iChat, Address Book and QuickTime Player.
Cyber Security Technologies is headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. It is a spinout and strategic partner of Architecture Technology Corporation, an established advanced technology company which provides software-intensive solutions for complex problems to customers including the US Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice and Transportation.
